The title is DELIRIOUS because this week has been amazing!
My companion and I, Hermana LeFevre are just working so hard! We have been working so hard but having so much fun because this is a joyous work! Literally everyday this week we have passed out at bedtime! We are so exhausted by the end of the day. We have been working out and running every morning and it has been so amazing! If you know me you know that’s something I LOVE to do. I was thinking about how this is helping me build healthy life habits. Life will be busy after my mission and I’ll always wake up and feel lazy but learning how to push ourselves to keep exercising and eating healthy even when life gets busy will bless us the rest of our lives. I have been so grateful for her and I’m leaning so much from her.
STREET CONTACTING
We have been doing a lot of walking and talking in the streets which has been my favorite thing. We have met soooo many people and I have learned how to not care what anyone thinks of me. “Remember which way you face”: I’m not here to impress other people or to feel good about myself. I know my Spanish isn’t perfect but I’m going to share the gospel with everyone who will listen because that’s what God wants. He wants His children to hear the gospel. This takes all the pressure off. It doesn’t matter if they reject you or if they think you’re crazy, because you did you best to share the gospel to love them and to invite them and I can feel the love of God when I do so.
LEAD BY THE SPIRIT
There have been many times this week where we are not sure where to go or who to talk to. You hear stories of the spirit telling them exactly where to go or exactly who to talk to. Well that’s not always how it works. In these moments we have been able to remember our purpose and rely on the spirit. We pray for guidance then we take action and make a decision and the spirit leads us. We have been lead down random streets and to random people at gas stations or in parks in miraculous ways – usually when we act and give the spirit something to work with. Like Nephi, even when we don’t know exactly what we are doing we are focused on our purpose and we are being obedient to invite the spirit into our lives and we take action and he uses our efforts to either redirect us or keep us in the right direction. The Spirit is so important.
FAMILIES
We are putting this family on date for baptism. The daughter who is 15 is so sweet. She’s been interested in the church for a while and coming to lessons by herself! Her family has not been a fan of the church. But thanks to her faith her family’s hearts have been softened. The parents who used to hate us can see how important this is to her, they have been coming to church the past couple months and they want to get baptized too! It’s seriously amazing. And this whole family is being changed by this 15 year old girl and her faith and courage to let God prevail. It’s by small and simple means that God doth confound the wise and its by small and simple means that God brings “many” souls unto salvation. God is so good.
LITTLE THOUGHT
I was thinking one day, as we had just had difficult conversations with people on the streets and difficult lessons where people who you know aren’t happy and still reject the gospel. I was looking at the picture of my nieces and nephews. We need to invest in the future. The future of the church of the world is these kids. More than anything we need to love them and teach them to love one another. We need to instill in their beings that we need to serve others to be happy, we need to he happy. Life is hard but we are still happy. Rely on the Savior. The basic principles we learn in primary are divine. We need to magnify our callings as their parents, sisters, brothers, etc. and teach them these thing in the home as well. Because the world is only getting worse and God has sent these kids at this time because they are strong and they will be the future leaders of the church when Christ comes. We need to teach kids to keep the commandments and to love God and that the Rock the Savior is where we may look for a remission of our sins and a source of strength and happiness.
