TRANSFERS🌐♨️📍.

First transfer in the field ✅️

It’s been a crazy 6 weeks! We got transfer calls on Saturday morning! They are splitting up the squad 🤧😪 and it kind of hurts, I’m not gonna lie. Hermanas Funk and Pennington are headed to the peninsula! Their new areas are beautiful on the northern coast of Spain. Ugh I’m going to miss them so much. I am staying in the same piso but different area and getting a new companion from Madrid. So we will be whitewashing Santa Cruz B! It’s going to be so fun and we are going to work so hard! Hopefully we can figure out how to get around because I’m still so new the Islands haha. But God provides a way. We will pick up our new comps from the airport on Tuesday so that will be exciting!

BAPTISM

We got to go to the baptism of our friend Sandra, who the other hermanas had been teaching. It was so special and her whole family came and none of them are members so that was a miracle. We sang Paz en Cristo (Peace in Christ) as a district and with the young adults in our ward and you could feel the spirit so strong. That’s why it’s so important that we get our friends to come to church and to baptisms because the spirit is undeniable.

FECHA (date)

We set another friend on date for baptism in November. He is so accepting of the gospel and I know it’s because he has felt the spirit! I won’t continue to teach our two friends because I’ll be in a new “area.” Same city just different area. But that’s ok, the work continues and the it is same no matter where we are as long as it’s through the spirit and in the name of Jesus Christ!

EL BARRIO

I love our ward. The youth and the young adults are incredible. The members are so amazing and are so crucial to the work. We appreciate them so much and they feed us soooo good! 😋🤗🥐🥘🫔🫓🥮

THOUGHTS

  • I have always hated when people say “oh the mission will change them” or “that’s good the mission will humble them and they will be better.” Well it’s not the mission that changes people because you can go on a mission and come home the same. Like Elder Holland said many missionaries come home and “missed the point.” The Atonement of Jesus Christ changes people. Yes it is true that whatever weaknesses you have or don’t know you have will be highlighted in one way or another. And even your strengths for a time may be made weak in order to reconcile you to God where he can them make them even stronger than they were before.
  • I have almost finished The Book of Mormon in a month and a half. I have never read it that fast but I have seen the blessings. It helps to read it as a regular book. By reading pages at a time instead of a chapter a day or a couple verses, you can better piece together the story and understand the connections. It really is just a story. And one thing I have seen is how often it says that if you keep the commandments you will prosper. It says that exact phrase so many times. And it also says that we need to repent and be baptized and we will be saved. Over and over again we see almost exact repetitions of the same situations. When we disobey God, we are cut off from His presence and He cannot bless us but His love is not turned away. When people are prideful and forget the Lord, they fall into transgression and are “cut off from the presence of the Lord,” but His hand is extended still. So when we repent, He is there and through the Atonement we are received with open arms as if it never happened. Our joy is full. We see that over and over and over again and all of this goes to show that God is a just God and a merciful God… perfectly. And also that throughout all of time GOD HAS NOT CHANGED. God does not change and he cannot change or he would cease to be God. Therefore all of this applies to us as well. His arm is always extended his love is not turned away. That’s what I have learned from the Book of Mormon recently.
  • The mission is so interesting. I have found that I have to recommit myself every day – even every hour – to my decision to serve. I have to repent every hour and remember my Lord in every moment. This is the key. The key is remembering. Remembering the Lord and his Atonement sacrifice, Remembering to love everyone and to love God, remembering to forget yourself, is what gives us the strength to endure our trials with joy.

SUPER IMPORTANT Okay, last thing. One of my good friends serving in Brussels shared this on Facebook. I thought it was super powerful. I’ll paste it right here…

I have met a lot of others that are just totally different than me. I have lived with quite a few too.
What should I expect?
You shouldn’t expect anything. You just have to learn how to accept that person. That will help you make a bond that can last into the eternities.
Throughout my lifetime, I have met a lot of diverse people. From people of different cultures, to those from different countries, to those who speak another language, to those that live in the city, to those who live in rural areas, to those that have different interests and hobbies, and people of all ages. But it still makes me quite astonished on how these bonds are made.
The secret is charity. No one will ever deny you if you show them love. That is one of life’s greatest secrets, that everyone wants to be loved and cared for.

“There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.”
- Mandy Hale

“Never underestimate the power of true love, for it knows no barriers.”
- John Groberg

They are put in your life so that you can love them. If you don’t, who will?
That is why certain people are in my life, so that I can create that bond and make their life beautiful!

I just love this because it’s so true. Our whole lives we will have people placed in our lives and we might have to work with some people everyday. But it’s never about you. Forget yourself and serve them. Bless their lived to the best of your abilities and have charity. In doing so, God makes it all about you. He gathers you, He reconciles you, He heals you, He teaches you, He comforts, He guides, He protects, and He blesses. But only when we lose ourselves.

Ok that’s all. I’m ready to keep working hard this transfer. I love you all and let me know if there’s anything I can do for you.

Ciao! ❤️
