OK this past week was literally INSANE. I’m not sure where to start.
So we took trains and busses to the airport then flew SLC to Dallas then Dallas (4 pm) to Spain Madrid at 9 am their time. (I didn’t sleep a wink on the 9 hour flight.) Then we stayed awake all day and toured around Madrid which was fun. Then we stayed at the president’s house the first night and then got our assignments the next day and stayed at one of the senior couples houses the next night so it was Loco. Then we got on the plane (Business Class might I add π) and flew 3 hours to the Canaries. We are on the island of Tenerife but the other missionaries in our zone are on Las Palmas. And when we got here we found out that the hurricane cyclone thing was starting that night so that was fun.
The rain hasn’t been too bad until today. They canceled church and did it on Zoom and they also canceled school which we are very confused about but we are still going out everyday haha.
Anyways I’m loving everything so far. I have learned a lot in this roller coaster of a week that has felt like 2 days. We got to meet with friends and I had no idea how much missionary work is online now but I am amazed at how these missionaries take advantage of every single source of finding. Everyone is so motivated and the people on this island are so special. People come up to us and one abuela in the store who is a die hard catholic just gave us her number and told us where she lived and to stop by to see us. A man said that people can recognize us from a mile away which is so awesome.
There’s so much to learn about missionary work and the culture and language everything so I am kept very busy. You guys… Americans wave and point, Europeans don’t wave and point so don’t do that LOL. (I’m trying to break this habit.)
The FOOD is really good. We haven’t gotten to eat that much because we are so busy and kind of whitewashing this area since me and my comp are both new and there haven’t been missionaries here for a while. But the food we have had is so fresh and the pastries are high quality and delicious.
Since we are on an island, it’s pretty much one steep hill whether you go up or down, you have lots of incline to hike everyday which is so fun and there are lots of hikes that the district here likes to do on P-days. This place is beautiful, I don’t really know how to describe it. It’s kind of second world that’s all I’ll say. But it kind of reminds me of Sausalito in California.
Today for P-day we went to the church in La Laguna and played soccer and basketball with the district. That was God telling me he loves me because I have missed soccer and it was sooooo fun. β½οΈπ
OK well… I love you all and pray for you all everyday. God is real and Jesus lives. The one lesson God keeps teaching me every single day is that he knows us and is with us and is so ambitious to teach us and help us and show us His love. But he will not choose for us because he respects our agency. So we have to choose him everyday, that is the joy in daily repentance. Waking up and choosing Him over and over and over again. Just give it up and give God your will. He can destroy the natural man within us and create a God or a Goddess. So just give it up. Give him yourself and let Him build you up to something infinitely more than you could ever create for yourself.
Hasta luego, Chao! πππ₯ππ³π΄π₯₯ππ₯πππ¨ππ
